Each day brings new feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Quotes have a way of capturing these moods, speaking to everyone in different ways.

Clearly, being a college student brings a lot of change. When leaving for college at eighteen years old, maybe you felt excited about leaving your hometown, escaping the drama, or seeing a new place? Maybe you were scared to leave your family behind? Or maybe you were hopeful that you'd finally belong? You may have even felt confident that you would meet the love of your life at college.

College is full of change. Noah Khan certainly captures the want to experience something new, yet the fear to leave home when he says, "So, pack up your car, put a hand on your heart Say whatever you feel, be wherever you are / We ain't angry at you, love / You're the greatest thing we've lost / The birds will still sing / Your folks will still fight / The boards will still creak / The leaves will still die / We ain't angry at you, love / We'll be waiting for you, love." These words are a reminder that you are ready for this next stage in your life, and those who love you will be there for you when you return. It's alright to go far and experience new things.

Then, there will be those moments when you are feeling stressed. You may just want to be free and dance in the rain. Picture it pouring so hard you can't see five feet in front of you. You are barefoot, spinning in the rain, feeling truly happy and free. Remember these wise words from Vivian Greene, "Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Other times, stress may come from assignments, tests, or the pressure to make new friends. At six years old, you probably held a lemonade stand with your neighbors or siblings. You probably loved pouring the lemonade, counting the money, and waving to cars. Let that be a reminder, as stated by Elbert Hubbard, that "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". Let that inspire you to be optimistic that you can accomplish any task.

Finally, college is the time to find yourself. Oscar Wilde once said, "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken." Use this time in college to define yourself by your own expectations. Life is full of different stages – from the highest highs to the lowest lows. In the end, no matter what you're feeling, there's always a quote to capture your mood.
