Each fall, it almost seems necessary that the time has come for a Gilmore Girls rewatch. The classic 2000s show perfectly encapsulates the picturesque, small-town, and cozy autumn I want to embody. So, if you, like me, have also felt the need to rewatch Lorelai and Rory again but don’t have time to stream all seven seasons, here are my top five personal favorite Fall episodes.

5. Season 2: Episode 6 “Presenting Lorelai Gilmore”

This is a quintessential Gilmore Girls episode, from a coming-out party hosted by the D.A.R. to the annual Stars Hollow autumn festival to Christopher visiting. With the lineup, it could be a classic for any season, but all of the fall leaves and sweaters make it the perfect Fall episode.

4. Season 4: Episode 5 “The Fundamental Things Apply”

The Autumn Festival returns for this episode, with fall decorations littering almost every store in Stars Hollow. The episode's main plot isn't very fall-focused--- Lorelai and Sookie start styling the inn, and Rory goes on her first date at Yale--- but each outfit is perfectly autumnal. The whole background of the episode makes you feel like you're in Stars Hollow for fall with the Gilmores.

3. Season 3: Episode 9 “A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving”

I will be the first to admit that Thanksgiving holds a different appeal than fall as a whole season, but this episode is too good to pass up. You can bet on decked-out Thanksgiving dinners (at least four), turkey puns, sweaters galore, and Lane and Dave being the best duo of the whole show.

2. Season 7: Episode 9 “Knit, People, Knit”

What is more fall-adjacent than a Stars Hollow Knit-a-Thon? This episode is definitely on the lower end of the fall season and lacks some of the abundant fall foliage that other episodes contain. Still, it makes up for it in the hours of knitting by Babette, Miss Patty, Sookie, and Lorelai.

  1. Season 1: Episode 7 “Kiss and Tell”

If you want almost every scene to be littered with pumpkins, frantic townspeople (basically just Taylor) preparing for the Autumn Festival, and fall leaves, this is the episode for you. As one of the first fall episodes in Gilmore Girls, this follows Rory and Dean just getting to know each other. My favorite part is Lane and Rory volunteering at the Cornucopia Can Food Drive. It’s heartwarming not only for the terrific fall representation but also because of the nostalgia for season one.
